The Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances (ODAI) is responsible for the publication of the District of Columbia Register (DCR), the District of Columbia Municipal Regulations (DCMR), and the Mayor's Administrative Issuances, which include Mayor's Orders, Instructions, and Memorandum. The D.C. Register is the official weekly legal publication for the District of Columbia government and includes D.C. laws, administrative rulemakings, notices, orders, and other items from the D.C. Council, the Mayor's executive agencies and independent agencies, charter schools, ANCs and other official entities of the District government.

ODAI is responsible for assisting agencies and government entities with their drafting and submissions to the D.C. Register. We both advise and legally certify that all submissions meet the correct standards and are legally sufficient. ODAI is also responsible for codifying all Final Rulemakings in the D.C. Municipal Regulations. The DCMR is organized by subject matter. Finally, ODAI assists in the drafting and legal certification of Mayor's Administrative Issuances.

Currently ODAI is moving from a paper-based system to a paperless based system. This includes online official publication of the D.C. Register; a free online search engine for the DC Register, DCMR, and Mayor's Orders; and an e-rulemaking system. We anticipate this project to last through 2010. We ask for your patience as we proceed with these changes in an effort to provide the public with more accurate and easily available information on District law and events.
